The Rainbow Wildlife Rescue is a non-profit organization in Stephenville, Texas. My name is Birgit Sommer. I founded the Rainbow Wildlife Rescue and am a licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator for the State of Texas as well as a Shelter Walker and volunteer foster parent for the Erath County Humane Society.
I, like many other licensed wildlife rehabilitators, work out of my own home and volunteer my time and just about every spare cent I can gather. No state funding is available for animal caging, veterinary care, medicine or food. That's why most rehabilitators gratefully accept donations towards the care of animals they receive from the public.!!! Most URGENTLY needed right now are Privacy fence panels, 1/2 inch galvanized hardware cloth, concrete, and a Utility Shed !!!

We have the fence up (thanks Kelli, Yann, Tommy, Megan, and Don!!!
) and a freshly welded cage frame with 2 large and 1 small compartment. In order to reach the goal for next spring to have at least 2 more outside enclosures, I need the following material (or the funds to purchase it):
- 50 ft privacy fence panels
- 1/2 inch galvanized hardware cloth, about 320 square feet worth (I already have a freshly welded metal frame for an outside enclosure for that)
- sheet metal for roofs
- concrete for walk way and cage foundations
- 2" x 4"s for bottom frames and back walls
- a utility or garden shed for cages, supplies, and feed (right now the stuff takes up an entire room in my house which I could use as an office and nursery)
- the tools and enough helping hands to put it all up

Please support the creation of an enclosed, off-leash dog park in Stephenville, TX! Our beautiful and fast growing City of Stephenville, Texas, does not offer a place where responsible dog owners have the opportunity to let their dogs off leash, nor are there enough Animal Control Officers to enforce the law and City Ordinances regarding the animal and human welfare.
As a result, dog-related incidents are increasing due to more dog owners moving to Stephenville. A dog park would not only provide a safe place for owners to exercise their canine friends, but it would also provide a place for the community to meet and share a common interest.

I want to mention the ECHS, since they have a current Adoption List on petfinder.com. I go to the shelter at least once a week and take pictures to update the petfinder page. It has been a great success!

Our Pets
Lucy: Our black cat LalaLucy has passed away very unexpected. She was fine one minute and the next she was gone. The vet said that it is not uncommon for feline leukemia positive cats to die of sudden heart failure. As sad as it is, I am glad she went this fast and didn't have to suffer. Lucy was only 6 years old and our first foster care that never left.

R.I.P. Lucy, you will be missed!Sandy: We had to take Sandy (16) to the vet a couple of more times this month, because she had problems with her healthy eye, but she is still hanging in there and having fun playing with Doogle.
Honey: If I ever had a success story, Honey has got to be it! She found a new home. From now on she is taking care of a 19 year old boy in a wheelchair who needs a companion during the day. This was EXACTLY what I had imagined for her, so it felt more than right to let her go, but my heart is still a bit heavy. Even after nearly 4 weeks!
Don't cry because it's over, Smile because it happened :)))))))!
She has been such a delight to take care of and I am grateful that I was blessed with her presence for solid 8 months. Have a good life, Honey!
The rest of the gang, Olliver and Olivia, Butters, Gremlin and Rosy are doing great!
